Frequently asked questions

Why is Villa Tugendhat always sold out?

Because it is a family house with tiny tours. Each tour takes 16 people at most, and new dates go on sale in weekly batches that often sell out on the evening they open. On 14 October 2026 every Basic and Extended tour was full.

When do Villa Tugendhat tickets go on sale?

On Sunday evenings at 18:00 Brno time, in weekly batches about 12 to 13 weeks ahead. Tours on 14 January 2027 opened on Sunday 18 October 2026.

Can I book a date that is not on sale yet?

Yes. Choose your date and tour with us now and we book it the moment that date opens. If the tour you chose has gone, we tell you and offer the tours still open that day.

What is the difference between the Basic and Extended tour?

The Basic tour lasts 60 minutes and covers the bedroom floor, the living floor and the garden. The Extended tour lasts 90 minutes and adds the technical floor: the air plant, boiler room, window machinery, darkroom and fur safe.

Are tours in English?

The English tours are Extended tours, normally at 12:00 and 15:00. Basic tours are guided in Czech, with a printed English text and a phone audio guide in English and 11 other languages.

Which tour should I choose?

If you want an English-speaking guide, or you care how the house worked, choose the Extended tour. If time is short or you are visiting with young children, the 60-minute Basic tour shows both main floors.

Who can use the student fare?

Pupils and students up to 26 with a valid student card, ISIC or EYCA card with a photo. Show it at the gate; without it the reduced ticket is not accepted.

Who can use the senior fare?

Visitors over 65. Bring photo ID that shows your age to the gate.

Do children need a ticket?

Children under 6 go free; tell us their ages and we add them at no charge. Older children can travel on the family fare, which covers two adults with one or two children under 15.

Is the villa open on Mondays?

No. Villa Tugendhat is closed every Monday. Tours run Tuesday to Sunday.

Can I take photos inside?

Only with a separate photo ticket bought at the villa’s desk on the day, and without flash or tripod. The garden and the outside of the house can be photographed freely.

Can I cancel or change my tour?

No. The villa does not cancel or move tickets once they are issued, so all bookings are final. Please check your date and tour before you pay.

Where do I meet the guide?

At the gate marked MAIN ENTRANCE, Černopolní 45, Brno. The nearest stop is Dětská nemocnice, about ten minutes on foot.

Can I bring luggage?

Not bulky luggage, and not stiletto heels. Lockers are available before the tour starts.

How do I receive my ticket?

We email you the e-ticket the villa issues for your tour. Show it on your phone or on paper at the gate.

Can I visit the garden without a tour?

Yes. The garden and the exhibition on the technical floor are open without a tour during opening hours, at no charge, unless snow, ice or wind closes the garden.

Who runs Villa Tugendhat?

The Brno City Museum runs the villa for the City of Brno. We are an independent booking service and are not part of the museum.
